Fruit, Memory, Magic
Obele is a bold new brand born from memory, movement, and the deep flavors of Kurdish tradition. Inspired by a suitcase once filled with childhood joy, we honor the heritage of Shaqlawa and Rawanduz, one bite at a time.

From Kurdistan, With Love
When our founder left Kurdistan for Sweden, one thing had to come along: flavor. Tucked beside clothes and photographs was a suitcase heavy with dried plums — the same ones shared at family gatherings, road trips, and quiet afternoons on the porch.
Friends in Uppsala tasted them and asked for more. What began as a taste of home became a question: what if Kurdish tradition could travel further than a single suitcase ever could? Obele is our answer — a name passed down in the family for the fruit that carried summer long into winter.

Shaqlawa & Rawanduz
In Shaqlawa, our founder learned to watch plums darken on the branch — where the first recipes behind Obele were whispered from kitchen to kitchen. In Rawanduz, carved into dramatic canyon country, we learned resilience and the patience to carry tradition forward.
Every Obele product holds the spirit of those mountains and orchards — lands where food is love, and love is never rushed.

Made in Sweden
We rebuilt the recipes here — slowly, carefully — using organic plums and the same patience our grandmothers taught us. NanaQaisi, our premium fruit leather, and the gift collection all grew from kitchen trials, late-night tastings, and a lot of stubborn pride.
At the Kurdish Festival in Uppsala we sold out in under two hours. Four thousand people now follow along online, waiting for the next batch. We are scaling production in Sweden while keeping the craft small enough to honor where we came from.

Heritage you can hold
Our packaging draws from Kurdish kilim patterns — geometry that tells stories of place, family, and belonging. We wanted every pouch to feel like something you would be proud to set on a table, tuck into a bag, or send to someone you miss.
Obele is more than a snack. It's a story. A bridge between past and present. And a taste that dares the world to remember.
